Summertime (Part 2)
Well, I never said these would be daily. Even though I sort of meant them to be. But I guess I can just do two today, since this one is technically for yesterday.
Yesterday morning, I woke up at 4:40am and couldn’t get back to sleep. I’d had a terrible nightmare where someone was spilling my deepest and darkest secrets to the world. Then I started to believe that this person was a person I was going to see today - or ever - and I got really stressed out and just a little bit sweaty. Thankfully, Kirby was supposed to be arriving in less than an hour. We were meeting up to carpool to the Girls On The Run event.
At first, I tried to play it cool, texting her that I would leave the door unlocked, as though I were too sleepy to hang out with her. But I eventually folded under the realization that I would rather have company than sit in the dark with my thoughts (next to a sleeping Brad I didn’t want to wake up). So I ate an orange with her and we watched Futurama.
About an hour later, closer to the time when we would be departing for the event, the coordinator called Kirby and told her that the park was flooded, so the event was postponed. It was a bit of a bummer, especially considering we’d had to wake up so early, but it was also a relief. I could relax a bit before my parents got here! Kirby, Brad and I got bagels and I played Bioshock: Infinite. I was so close to beating it - I almost could smell Songbird in the next room - but I had to refrain because my parents were practically on my doorstep.
Visits from my parents are always fun. I love them a lot and miss them, usually. It was rather chill this time around. We had a lazy afternoon, talking and catching up. Then we hopped in the car with Garrett and Kirby and went to Jack of the Woods. I had my first legal beer with my parents there. Jeffrey also came and gifted me a beautiful necklace. In true Jeffrey fashion… always prepared for any occasion and all. It was a nice night.
The summer’s going fine. I’m still trying to decide where I’ll be going for it. Perhaps I’ll throw a dart at a map and go where it lands, in a most cliche fashion.
